A sequel to the poem with a similar title, the contents of which I have forgotten. A result of multiple insults and ad hominem attacks from warmongers on Twitter/X.
Human Hubris II
Human hubris, as always, seems unbounded
Though self-righteousness mostly unfounded
When the drums of war are sounded
Many think some god is on their side
They imagine their nation better than others
And presume coreligionists sisters or brothers
Whilst denigrating their enemy’s mothers
Propaganda by insult so far and wide.
Oh, let us reject those loathsome creatures
Who ignore the words of generations of teachers
Who find fear in foreigners’ cultural features
Leading to inevitable confliction
Ideas from the East that come to the West
Need neither be seen as worst or best
Diversity should be by our leaders blessed
Not treated as an affliction
Those who seek commonality of thought
Forget for what our forefathers fought
They denied the vassalage establishment sought
And took arms against their oppressors
Those who pretend there is a single way
That there are only some things one can say
That not all dogs shall have their day
Are today the true aggressors
